Guangning County, Zhaoqing City, is known as the "Hometown of Bamboo in China".
Guangning has superior natural ecology and rich bamboo resources. It has a bamboo forest area of about 72,000 hectares and an annual output of more than 400,000 tons of bamboo. It has the largest bamboo sea in China and the only bamboo cultural expo in the province. Guangning has rich bamboo species, with a total of 14 genera and 57 species, of which the area of green-skinned bamboo is about 52,000 hectares, the area of tea-stem bamboo is about 13,300 hectares, and the area of miscellaneous bamboos such as ma bamboo, sweet bamboo, and bamboo shoots is about 6,700 hectares. It is the national green-skinned bamboo center production area.
With such unique natural conditions, Guangning County closely follows the "421" industrial development layout, strives to build a bamboo industry cluster, and continuously consolidates the hard power of high-quality development.
In August 2024, the processing plant of Guangning County Kengkou Living Bamboo Shoots Cooperative was officially put into production. It is a concrete manifestation of Guangning's in-depth implementation of the concept of green development and its active response to the rural revitalization strategy. It is also a solid step for Guangning to strive to build a bamboo industry cluster and develop new forms of bamboo industry.

Transform bamboo resources into green industry advantages
The first phase construction area of Guangning New Demonstration Park (Jiangji Bamboo Industrial Park) is about 500 acres, and the road supporting projects are currently 93% complete. At the same time, we are committed to building a traditional bamboo processing demonstration base, building a demonstration production line, bamboo product showroom, and bamboo product trading platform with high standards. Guangning Beautiful Life Plastic Products Co., Ltd. has been put into trial production, which can achieve an annual output of 10,000 tons of bamboo biodegradable tableware.
Guangning County Bamboo and Wood Export Quarantine Fumigation Center was officially unveiled in January 2024, promoting the improvement of the "raw materials-processing-export" integrated industrial service model. At the same time, we will focus on expanding bamboo shoot processing, building bamboo shoot planting bases and bamboo shoot processing plants, and introducing a batch of bamboo shoot pre-prepared food production and processing equipment. The annual output of bamboo shoot processing products is about 2,000 tons, with a total output value of about 15 million yuan.

Provide endogenous power for the development of bamboo industry
The construction of 80 mu bamboo germplasm resource base in Guangning County has been completed. 82 rare and precious bamboo species and forest economic crops such as Amomum villosum, Dictyophora, Ganoderma lucidum, and Stropharia japonica have been introduced and collected. The area of the planting base is being planned to expand the quality and efficiency of forest economic crops and build a bamboo germplasm resource bank.
10,000 mu of Gushui tea stalk bamboo demonstration forest base has been built to further strengthen the directional cultivation of green-skinned bamboo and tea stalk bamboo; a contract for the development of key technologies for the efficient utilization of green-skinned bamboo and tea stalk bamboo has been signed with the Institute of Wood Industry of the Chinese Academy of Forestry, and research on the material properties and processing performance of green-skinned bamboo and tea stalk bamboo has been carried out.
Promote the integrated development of bamboo forest culture and tourism
Create a brand of cultural tourism and health care
Since 2023, Guangning has made every effort to promote the implementation of characteristic homestay projects and introduced a number of bamboo forest characteristic homestays. Among them, the Guangdong Emerald Bay White Swan Hot Spring Resort with the theme of bamboo forest health care has fully opened a total of 101 guest rooms, which has greatly improved the supporting services and reception services of Guangning tourism. In the same year, two homestay projects, including Gushui Maliushan Homestay and Jingxi Courtyard Homestay, were introduced; the Maike Boutique Homestay project in Mengkeng Village, Guangning County, started on August 8, 2024; the Zhuhai·Pushanli Homestay project with a total investment of 180 million yuan was introduced. After the project is fully completed, it can receive 100,000 tourists per year.

Relying on Jiangji Bamboo Industrial Park, Guangning Hengshan High-tech Industrial Park, Shijian Industrial Park, and Gushui Traditional Industrial Cluster, Guangning integrates resource advantages to form an industrial demonstration park of forest pulp and paper integration-bamboo and wood processing-high-tech materials and technological innovation. At the same time, we actively applied to create a national bamboo and wood industry demonstration park and a national "bamboo instead of plastic" application and promotion base, and solidly promoted the development of Guangning County's "bamboo instead of plastic" industry.
