Most of Shuinan Town is mountainous. The deep mountainous areas are distributed in the northeast, accounting for more than 80% of the town's area; the hilly areas are distributed in the southwest, with an average altitude of 180 meters, the highest point Qixingding is 840 meters above sea level, and the lowest point Paddy Field is 31 meters above sea level.

Climate

Hydrology

Origin of the place name

During the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty (1862-1874), Shuinan Weir was located at the confluence of Dajing River, Qingwan River and Shekeng River, so it was called Hekou Weir. Later, in order to distinguish it from the estuary of Sanshui County, it was renamed Shuinanwei, which means that the water of Dajing River flows from north to south from then on.

Humanities and customs

Shuinan Town is one of the towns where Hakka people live in Zhaoqing area. Shuinan Town has a total of 130 natural villages and a population of more than 18,000. Except for 9 natural villages where villagers speak Cantonese, the remaining 121 natural villages are all Hakka villages that speak Hakka dialect, with more than 15,000 Hakka people living there. There are many surnames such as Chen, Gan, Lai, and Li, and Hakka people of each surname live together in clans.
