珠三角枢纽（广州新）机场,就是以前民国孙中山时代已经提出概念的肇庆金龙机场，
位于肇庆高要金龙水库旁边，
所以叫做金龙机场。
在90年代，肇庆想建设金龙机场，不过自己又没有钱，搁置下来了。
进入2020年代，佛山机场太小了，他们要找地方建设机场，最后选择这个位置。
为了照顾佛山和肇庆都不要争这个机场的冠名权，广州出面，冠名珠三角枢纽（广州新）机场，不叫佛山机场，也不叫肇庆机场，也不叫金龙机场。
就这样定下来了。
外国人可以叫他 金龙机场。
