Xiamao Town, under the jurisdiction of Sihui City, Zhaoqing City, Guangdong Province, is located in the central part of Sihui City, bordering Jianggu Town and Didou Town in the north, Huangtian Town and Shigou Town in the east, and Longfu Town and Jingkou Town in the west. The total area under its jurisdiction is 107 square kilometers. As of the end of 2019, the registered population of Xiamao Town was 33,882.
In December 1949, Shangmao and Xiamao Townships were established, belonging to the fourth district. In February 1952, Xiamao and other five townships were established, belonging to the ninth district of Guangsi County. In April 1961, Xiamao People's Commune was established by separating from Jianggu People's Commune. In August 1983, the commune was abolished and the district was established. In March 1987, the district was abolished and the town was established. [3] As of June 2020, Xiamao Town has jurisdiction over 2 communities and 13 administrative villages. Historical evolution
In December 1949, Shangmao and Xiamao Townships were established, belonging to the fourth district.
In February 1952, Xiamao and other five townships were established, belonging to the ninth district of Guangsi County.
In July 1954, it was changed to the fifth district of Sihui County.
In July 1957, it was merged into Shangmao and Xiamao townships.

Origin of Place Name
Folk legend in Xia Mao Town says that in ancient times there was a thatched shed at the foot of Niugugang for pedestrians to rest and take shelter from the rain. This place was used as a boundary, with the upper part called Shangmao and the lower part called Xiamao. "Mao" and "mao" are interchangeable, so it is called Xia Mao Town.
Cultural Relics and Historic Sites
Baiwutai is one of the "three platforms" of Sihui historical sites. It is located at the foot of Gongpo Mountain in Mapi Village, Xia Mao Town, Sihui City, 8 kilometers away from the urban area of Sihui City. In the 22nd year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1896), according to the "Sihui County Chronicles", "Baiwutai is at the foot of Gongpo Mountain in Erjia (now Mapi), where Zhang Liang and Erxian are worshipped. The ruins are still there. The platform bricks are larger than the city bricks, so they must have been specially built." It is also recorded that "Gongpo Mountain has a furnace and a precious inkstone in the past."
