After the 38th year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1559), the right bank area of Suijiang River was incorporated into Guangning County, and the left bank area belonged to Sihui County. In July 1954, the township originally belonging to Guangning County was transferred to Sihui County and belonged to the fourth district. In 1983, the community was withdrawn and the district was established. In March 1987, the district was withdrawn and changed into a town. During the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Tiechangpu, Sihui County, and Chengcunpu was established in Guangning County.

During the Republic of China period, Guangshan Township was established in Sihui County, and two townships were established in Guangning County.
